A new cohort of controlled schools are participating in the current CSSC #ErasmusPlusUK programme attended a recent event held at Stranmillis University College.

As we come to the end of this academic year, CSSC wishes to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all controlled school Governors, Principals and staff for their commitment and dedication.

The controlled sector is the largest education sector accounting for 49% of all Northern Ireland’s schools, including 63 nursery schools, 380 primary schools and 69 post primary schools. Controlled schools are open to all faiths and none which brings a rich diversity and inclusive ethos.

The Maguiresbridge Primary School community was delighted to be awarded the ‘Best School (Fermanagh) Trophy’ at the recent Families First, Education Awards 2022.

Carrickfergus Grammar School has become the first school in Northern Ireland to be selected to join a prestigious network dedicated to sharing the best research into how children succeed educationally.

Limavady High School has been recognised for their outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the children they work with every day.  The school has been honoured with a Silver Award in the category of The Award for Making a Difference – Secondary School of the Year.

Retired and retiring Principals from controlled schools were celebrated and thanked at an event jointly hosted by the Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) and Education Authority.

Congratulations to Glengormley High School Principal Ricky Massey who picked up the 2022 Families First Northern Ireland Award for Best Principal.  The school was also a runner up for the Best Post Primary School and Miss Amy Mulholland, Head of Art and Design received the runners up prize.
