The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) has today, Thursday 25 January, described the financial situation faced by many schools as unfair, given the cuts they have been required to make in an effort to stay within budget.

The Cookstown High School team that developed a PiView Renewable Energy weather station were double award winners at this year’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition.

Darren McCarroll, 17, from Ballynahinch, who is completing his A levels at Wellington College Belfast, has won a place and a financial aid package to study at a top US university after participating in the Sutton Trust US Programme, run in partnership with the US-UK Fulbright Commission.

Harvey Donnelly, a 4th year student at Wellington College has won the overall Northern Ireland award at the 2018 BT Young Scientist and Technology exhibition.

The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) has been awarded over €140,000 to lead a project which focuses on teaching problem-solving in technology rich environments, it was announced on Tuesday 9 January 2018.
