CSSC congratulates New Year Honours recipients

The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) congratulates all those from the education sector recognised in the 2023 New Year Honours list which includes Trevor Robinson, former Principal, Lurgan College and former CSSC director.  Honours are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have made a difference to their community.

‘Controlled schools are embedded in their communities, promoting and raising awareness of the diverse and inclusive nature of the sector.  I want to congratulate all the Controlled Schools representatives who have served their schools and community and are being recognised today. I also extend congratulations to all the recipients in the New Year Honours list who have worked in or contributed to educating children and young people in the controlled sector.

Recipients include:

  • Mrs Mary Montgomery, Principal, Belfast Boys' Model who has been awarded an OBE for services to education.
  • Mr Trevor Robinson, lately Principal, Lurgan College who has been awarded an OBE for services to education. 
  • Mr Robert Leckey who has been awarded an MBE for services to education.
  • Mrs Heather Pratt, Chair, Board of Governors, Rossmar Special School who has been awarded an MBE for services to education.
