  1. Final call for 2019 BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition entries

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) and BT are reminding post-primary school students to keep their eyes on the prize as the deadline for entries for the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) fast approaches on 25 September.

  3. Markethill High School students break new records at GCSE

    Markethill High Schools’ pupils have this year posted record GCSE results, with twenty pupils receiving 5 or more A*/A grades.

  4. Lisneal celebrates record breaking GCSE results

    There was a celebratory mood in Lisneal College on Thursday 23 August when pupils received their GCSE results and it wasn’t surprising as 95% of pupils achieved five or more A*-C grades.

  5. Upward trend continues for Limavady High School pupils

    Thursday 23 August was a very exciting day for the pupils of Limavady High School as they received their much-anticipated GCSE grades, with many students achieving top grades in their subjects; indeed 100% of pupils achieved five or more A*-G grades.

  6. Controlled education sector

    The controlled education sector is the largest, most diverse education sector in Northern Ireland comprising 49% of all schools across all phases: nursery, special, primary, secondary, grammar, integrated and Irish medium schools.  Controlled schools are open to all, welcoming children and young people of all faiths and none. They are richly diverse and inclusive, reflective of and embedded in their local communities.

    The ethos of controlled schools emphasises the importance of providing high-quality education for all pupils within the local community, regardless of their religious background, ability or socioeconomic status. They strive to create welcoming and inclusive learning environments that nurture understanding, respect, and a sense of belonging. Controlled schools are managed by the Education Authority.

  7. Outstanding achievements for Banbridge Academy

    Banbridge Academy pupils have once again produced impressive GCSE results.  Of the 192 pupils who sat GCSE examinations this year, 57.1% of all entries resulted in the top grades A*/A, and when B Grades are included this figure rises to 84.8%.

  8. Fivemiletown College celebrates exam success

    Fivemiletown College is celebrating the best ever set of GCSE results in the schools’ history for the second year in a row. 

  9. GCSE results day – a milestone for controlled school pupils

    After months of hard work, pupils across the controlled sector will today, Thursday 23 August, receive their GCSE results and make decisions about their future.

  10. Antrim Grammar School celebrates best ever A level results in the history of the school

    Sixth form pupils at Antrim Grammar School celebrated an outstanding set of A level results this year, the best in the schools’ history, with 81% of pupils achieving at least three grades A*-C.
