    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) is holding a coffee morning in aid of our charity partner, Cancer Focus NI. 

    We’re almost at our target, please support our final push as we aim to smash our £2,000 target.

    We look forward to welcoming everyone for tea, coffee and an array of scrumptious treats in exchange for a modest donation.

  3. CSSC Fundraiser in aid of Cancer Focus NI

    An incredibly successful fundraiser for Cancer Focus NI was held on 22 May at CSSC offices. Thanks to all who helped us smash our target of £2,000.  

  4. Collaboration key for over 150 Dickson plan teachers

    Over 150 teachers have taken part in the 2019 annual collaborative day for post primary Dickson plan schools.

  5. Innovative approaches to raising standards in controlled schools

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) has today, Monday 11 June, published a series of case studies highlighting the innovative work being carried out in controlled post primary schools to enable pupils to reach their full potential.

    As the current programme is nearing completion and with a highly successful first year for the mTech.Academy, it’s time to look ahead to the next school year.

  7. Resilience of controlled school leaders acknowledged at AGM

    CSSC’s 3rd AGM took place in Cookstown on 16 May 2019. Attended by schools and guests from across Northern Ireland, Council was delighted to welcome the choir from Sperrinview Special School who performed a medley of Abba songs followed by a rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow accompanied by Makaton signing. Cookstown High School pupils performed a short drama on resilience and overcoming adversity.

  8. Governor Training - ethos in controlled schools

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council invites Governors to participate in a pilot training session for ethos development in controlled schools in Portadown.

    CSSC has developed a training programme for governors of controlled schools, in which they will have the opportunity to explore a brief history of the controlled sector, what ethos is, current legislation in respect of ethos and the role of governors in ethos development.

    CSSC’s ethos toolkit will also be disseminated to governors and consideration will be given to how the toolkit can assist them in their role.

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council invites Governors to participate in a pilot training session for ethos development in controlled schools in Ballymena.

    CSSC has developed a training programme for governors of controlled schools, in which they will have the opportunity to explore a brief history of the controlled sector, what ethos is, current legislation in respect of ethos and the role of governors in ethos development.

  10. CSSC Financial Statements

    The draft 2018-19 Directors Report and Annual Accounts, presented at the AGM in Cookstown on 16 May 2019, which received a clean audit opinion, were approved by Council on 23 May 2019.

    A copy has now been lodged with Companies House as required by legislation and is available for your information to download.
