  1. Communication Ethos

    This theme affirms effective communication as integral to leadership within schools. Ensuring that communications are effective to enable messages and information to flow freely, both ways, is an essential element in the management of a school across all stakeholders. Equally important are the ethos messages delivered by the leadership team and the development of positive and dynamic communication skills to ensure that recipients are engaged and enthused.

  2. CSSC congratulates King's Birthday Honours recipients

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) congratulates all those from the education sector recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours list. Honours are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have made a difference to their community.

  3. In case you missed it ..... Rathcoole Primary School and Nursery Unit honoured in prestigious Pearson Teaching Awards

    Controlled School, Rathcoole Primary School & Nursery Unit (Rathcoole PSNU) has won a Pearson National Teaching Silver Award. Rathcoole PSNU was honoured with the Silver Award for Early Years Team of the Year for their outstanding commitment to changing the lives of the children they work with every day. 

  4. Retiring Principals celebrated at event

    Retired Principals from controlled schools were celebrated and thanked at an event jointly hosted by the Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) and Education Authority.

  5. Ethos and Leadership programme - Communication workshop

    CSSC welcomed senior leaders in controlled schools to attend CSSC's communication workshop. This event formed part of the Ethos and Leadership programme in 2022/2023.

    Senior leaders undertook communication training in a local media studio with the opportunity to have their interview skills honed by seasoned external facilitator for both radio and television appearances.

    Training

    Enables Principals to reflect on how values, personality characteristics and leadership styles impact on personal ethos. Consideration is given to the concept of Emotional Intelligence and how self-awareness can facilitate personal ethos development.

  8. Ethos and Leadership programme - Personal Ethos Two (Relationships)

    Establishes the Principal’s role in fostering an ethos of effective and meaningful relationships across a range of stakeholders.  Participants will explore how to build rapport, establish trust, listen actively and manage conflict to contribute to the ethos of the school.

  9. Governors and Ethos Three (Improvement Ethos)

    Governor development

    Governors and Ethos Three (Improvement Ethos) determines the fundamental role of ethos in school improvement. There will be exploration of ethos, vision and mission which are integral to the strategic direction of the school. Governors will reflect on the key elements of school improvement, how progress can be measured internally and externally and the importance of nurturing aspiration and setting high expectations as key components of school ethos.

    Duration: 45 Minutes

  10. Transferor governors training session

    Joint governor training sessions with CSSC and the Transferor Representatives’ Council

    To outline the unique role of a Transferor governor, enable us to meet with Transferor Governors and find out how the Transferor Representatives’ Council (TRC) and CSSC can support them in their role.

    There will be an opportunity to meet with members of TRC and find out how TRC represents the Transferor governors at all levels in education.
