Shaping the future of controlled schools: Taskforce reports to Minister

The Education Minister established the Ministerial Taskforce in September 2025, comprising representatives from the Department of Education, the Education Authority and the Controlled Schools' Support Council.

The Taskforce led in the development of a Development of a proposed model for support for controlled schools.

The Taskforce focused on two key areas:

  • Developing a model for a dedicated managing authority with sustainable governance to support controlled schools in delivering high-quality education
  • Delivering interim improvements to address critical challenges within current structures

The report was presented to the Minister in December 2025.
