Northern Ireland Office announces free educational resources to mark the 25th Anniversary of the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.

CSSC has written to all controlled schools highlighting the £18,000 per child educational underinvestment in Northern Ireland in comparison to a child being educated in Scotland.

Controlled school leaders recently visited Croatia to learn about the development of whole-school strategies towards digitalisation and STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics).

Controlled school Governors advocate for their school within their communities and for the controlled sector, showcasing how controlled schools are diverse, inclusive and serve their communities.

The Chief Executives of the main education bodies in Northern Ireland including CSSC have written to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (NI) and the Head of the NI Civil Service echoing and reinforcing the recent concerns raised by the Education Authority (EA) regarding significant limitations to funding and its impact on our children and young people.

The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) congratulates all those from the education sector recognised in the 2023 New Year Honours list which includes Trevor Robinson, former Principal, Lurgan College and former CSSC director.  Honours are given to people from all walks of life and all sections of society who have made a difference to their community.

It has been announced that the Permanent Secretary for the Department of Education has approved development proposal 574, which proposed Craigavon Senior High School operate on a single site, 26-34 Lurgan Road, Portadown. 

Mark Baker, CSSC Chief Executive, congratulated the controlled school and their Principal who is also a CSSC Director, Darren Mornin.

Retired Principals from controlled schools were celebrated and thanked at an event jointly hosted by the Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) and Education Authority.

The Independent Review panel has released the interim report of The Independent Review of Education.
