P1 teacher Mrs Pauline Boyd was named as Best Teacher in the province-wide awards ceremony, held at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel on 28 September, while the school was named as Best Primary School.

School Principal Steven Osborne said that everyone connected with the school was delighted by this success.  “The nominations for these awards come from families and the assessment process includes a visit to the school.  It is a great tribute to Mrs Boyd that she received this well-deserved award as Best Teacher for her many years of dedicated and caring teaching.

“We were one of eleven Primary Schools shortlisted in the Best Primary School section.  To be selected as Overall Winner was just fabulous! They said they were getting a lot of very positive comments about Springfield, including our support for special needs, safeguarding, eco works and pastoral care.”

Congratulating the school on this latest success, North Belfast DUP MLA William Humphrey said, “This is a tremendous tribute to the standard of education and support at Springfield Primary.  It has been a pleasure for me to support the development of this popular school over the years.

“I want to thank all those who took the time to submit nominations.  I am delighted for Mrs Boyd and for all connected to the school community that they have received this deserved recognition.”
