Seaview Primary School and Nursery win prestigious TES Award

The prestigious awards, celebrating their tenth year, recognise outstanding contributions made by education teams and individuals to help students around the country to succeed, both inside and outside the classroom. 

Seaview came out on top against primary and post primary schools from across the UK to win this prestigious title.

CSSC is thrilled for Seaview Primary School and Nursery on this well-deserved achievement and offer our warmest congratulations to Principal Corrine Latham and her staff.

At Seaview Primary School and Nursery, technology has played a big role in improving academic achievement and the school has made year-on-year progress since 2015.

Seaview has been a CAPITA ICT Excellence winner in Northern Ireland in 2017 and the staff are known for their high level of ICT expertise.

Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard, which is used daily to integrate technology into lessons in fun and meaningful ways.

The use of iPads and androids tablets throughout the school has allowed pupils to take part in online mathematics competitions against other children across the world and to participate in Skype conversations to develop global learning. Since adopting the technology, the school has experienced an improvement in attendance and a decline in poor behaviour.

Technology is used at Seaview to enrich the curriculum. The blended approach is highly innovative and other practitioners from around the world have come to visit the North Belfast School.

We are totally delighted to win the TES awards for the use of innovative technology to improve outcomes.  

The award reflects the hard work of the teaching staff to be creative in financially challenging circumstances to ensure our pupils are prepared for the digital life of tomorrow.

The judges said

The scope of Seaview’s use of technology was impressive. From improving attendance, behaviour and key stage outcomes to developing staff through in-house CPD sessions, it was a comprehensive example of how technology can be used to positively impact many aspects of school life.

This was a record year for entries and the standard was exceptionally high. The shortlists were particularly strong so all those who have won an award should be very proud, it’s an extraordinary achievement. We salute each and every one of them.
