Markethill High pupil has the recipe for success

Lucy Mackey, a year 10 pupil in Markethill High School has been crowned the Tesco School Chef of the Year, winning £100 for herself and £1,000 for school.

The final took place on Saturday 24 February 2018 at Mullahead Ploughing Match, Portadown with celebrity judge was Paula McIntyre.

Lucy cooked a tender chicken, bacon and leek pie in a creamy white sauce served with mini garlic and parmesan hassleback potatoes, with roasted mustard and honey glazed carrots and parsnips.

Principal of Markethill High, James Maxwell said 

Many, many congratulations to Lucy, home economics teacher Miss McConnell and our wonderful home economics department led by Mrs Winter. 

We are very proud of Lucy and this fantastic accomplishment.
