Education team explore Forest Schools

On Friday 6 October School Support Officers met with Brian Poots from Northern Ireland Forest School Association.

The association is a recognised charity promoting outdoor environmental education and provides a great opportunity for Shared Education projects.

Brian works with teachers and children for six weeks.  This usually takes place in the school grounds or other local area.  Schools are provided with a kit bag full of useful items for use with activities.

Currently five councils are helping schools with associated costs in becoming a forest school and Garvagh People’s Forest is also funding the training of 30 Forest School leaders.
