The Controlled Schools Support Council recently launched a Scholarship scheme for leaders of non-selective controlled post primary schools towards the ‘Excellence in Leadership’ programme, through the Chartered College of Teachers.

The Scholarship is funded by legacy money from the former Association of Head Teachers in Secondary Schools.

The ‘Excellence in Leadership’ programme is a brand new professional development programme aimed at experienced senior leaders within schools. The 12 month programme invites candidates to reflect upon and challenge their educational thinking, connect with other experienced school leaders, and draw upon advice from leading experts. The programme aims to deepen participants’ understanding, knowledge and thinking in key areas that will make the greatest difference to their schools and ultimately, outcomes for pupils.

Successful completion of the programme, will result in the award of Chartered Teacher (Leadership) status. Click here for further details of the Chartered College Leadership Programme.

We are delighted to introduce our three successful candidates for this first time professional development opportunity. Each have successfully completed their applications for both the ‘Excellence in Leadership’ programme and the Scholarship.

CSSC wishes our three pioneers every success as they embark upon this new professional learning journey. Congratulations to Ruth Harkness, Craigavon Senior High School; Ian Matthews, Rathfriland High School and Matthew Pitts, Bangor Academy and Sixth Form College.
