Ballyclare High School student gains top art prize

‘Sarah’s Reflection’ by 12 year old artist Zara Craig, a pupil at Ballyclare High School, is one of seven County Antrim artworks to win a top prize in this year’s 66th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

Professor Declan McGonagle, Adjudicator and Former Director of the National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin said,

“All the winners of Special Merit Awards for artworks were imaginative and displayed high levels of skill”.

Zara is thrilled with her success and stated,

“It has been good to spend time on projects that I enjoy during this time and nice that others think my work is good.”

No stranger to the competition, Zara won Special Merit Awards in 2012 and 2019.

Dr Rainey, Principal, Ballyclare High School commented,

“We are delighted with Zara’s continued success in this competition and the flair she has in this subject area.”
