Augher Central Primary School’s highlights

Augher Central Primary School pupils have completed lots of activities and challenges as part of their learning journey this year.

NI First minister Arlene Foster joined KS2 pupils at Augher CPS

Highlights included an interactive virtual session with Northern Ireland’s First Minister, Arlene Foster MLA, who joined them as part of their 'Wonderful, Marvellous Me' topic exploring the history of Northern Ireland. The children learned about how local Government operates and enjoyed asking questions about the pandemic as well as hearing what motivated and inspired the First Minister to take up a role in politics.

Each week, Principal Andrea Sawyers sends out a video communication to families and sets a family challenge which the children have been eager to complete with lots of prizes and goodies up for grabs.  A recent 'Family Bake Off' competition promoted wellbeing amongst families and provided opportunities to bring families together and engage with the school community.

The school recently held its 'Mental Health & Wellbeing Week' joining with local stakeholders to provide fitness and dance activities each morning for families throughout the week. Local post primary schools, Fivemiletown College and Omagh Academy got involved with local businesses in helping the primary school as they supported school families and the wider community.

Children who access supervised provision in school and those at home have been working together through online live lessons. Each week they interact with their teachers and meet their peers online to support their mental health and wellbeing. Mental health tasks for the children included pupils looking at themselves, what made them unique and special and how important they are.

In conclusion they’re all perfect, each and every one.
