Augher Central Primary School wave goodbye to class of 2020

Augher Central Primary School said farewell to their Primary 7 class of 2020 with a creative message to inspire pupils as they headed off to begin the next chapter in their educational journey.

Augher Primary

Andrea Sawyers, Principal, and Rev Olie Downey, Chair of Board of Governors, alongside staff who had taught them throughout their seven years sent special video messages to the children as they said farewell to their primary school life. With a parting message: 'Reach for the Stars, follow that rainbow and your dreams will all come true’.

As Education Authority guidance clearly stated that no farewell gathering should take place, the school have organised a special outdoor prize giving and Primary 7 graduation during the first week of September. All Primary 7 pupils and their families will be invited to come together and celebrate the end of the primary school journey and the start of their next chapter as they begin post-primary education in September.

Andrea Sawyers, Principal commented,

“This was a strange way to end a school term but it was important for our Primary 7 pupils and their families that we mark this special occasion, so using technology we made video messages and got creative. The children completed their own iMovie to bring together their memories of the last three months and create films of their school journey which is something they will look back and treasure in the future. Usually we would have had a Primary 7 Graduation, prize giving and end of year party which usually involves a very active water fight where children love soaking me. Although I'm devastated (as you can imagine) we can't do that this year. I do look forward to having a special evening in September where we will be able to come together with the class of 2020 and give them a special send off.”

The Primary 7 pupils all received a special leaver's hoodie and goodie bag to mark their time with the school, with all children's names on the back as a momento of their time spent together at Augher Central Primary School.
