  1. NI Assembly Education Committee

    The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) met with the NI Assembly Education Committee last week and highlighted the diverse nature of controlled schools and that we are open to all faiths and none.

  2. Department of Education Consultation

    The Department of Education has launched a consultation on deferral of the school starting age. CSSC will submit a response to this consultation which closes on 4 January 2022.

  3. CSSC Chief Executive shares new strategy at AGM

    Speakers at the 2021 Controlled Schools' Support Council (CSSC) AGM included: Michelle McIlveen MLA, Minister of Education and Mark Baker, CSSC, Chief Executive. The 13 members of the new CSSC Council were ratified and introduced.

  5. Minister launches Trauma Informed Practice (TIP) training to support children and young people

    The Minster of Education, Michelle McIlveen MLA, has launched an online training programme which focuses on raising awareness of trauma and its potential impacts on children.  The online training resource for schools on Trauma Informed Practice was launched at Fane Street Primary School.

  6. Shared education partners both winners at 2021 Pearson National Teaching Awards

    Michael Allen, Principal, Lisneal College has won The Gold Award for Headteacher of the Year in a Secondary School, alongside Marie Lindsay, former principal of St Mary’s College who has won a Gold Award in the Pearson National Teaching Awards for The Award for Lifetime Achievement.

  7. The Submarine at Abbots Cross Primary School

    Education Minister Michelle McIlveen, MLA visited Abbots Cross Primary recently to open the school’s new Nurture Classroom which has been named ‘The Submarine’.

  8. CSSC delivers its programme ‘Engaging with Sign – a language for you and me’ for the third time.

    CSSC has succeeded in its application to the Department for Communities’ Sign Language Partnership Group to fund a third programme of sign language workshops which will raise awareness of the needs of the deaf community and teach valuable sign language skills. 

  9. Wheatfield Primary School receive School of Sanctuary Award for diversity

    Wheatfield Primary School in North Belfast has received a School of Sanctuary award for its role in celebrating diversity and enriching its community.

  10. Limavady High School launch 60th anniversary production

    CSSC Chief Executive, Mark Baker joined in the 60th anniversary celebrations at Limavady High School.
