  4. Advancing Shared Education Third Report to Northern Ireland Assembly

    This third Report to the Northern Ireland Assembly sets out the extent to which the Department of Education, the Education Authority and other bodies impacted by the Act have complied with or exercised their respective duties and powers.

  5. Glengormley High School Principal wins Families First NI Best Principal Award

    Congratulations to Glengormley High School Principal Ricky Massey who picked up the 2022 Families First Northern Ireland Award for Best Principal.  The school was also a runner up for the Best Post Primary School and Miss Amy Mulholland, Head of Art and Design received the runners up prize.

    One of the Controlled Schools' Support Council's (CSSC) key functions is ethos. CSSC works with controlled schools in developing and maintaining the collective ethos of the sector. 

    Ethos is critical to all aspects of school life, it is the cornerstone on which a school operates and should permeate everything that happens within a school.

  7. Controlled schools are #OpenToAll

    The controlled sector is the largest education sector accounting for 49% of all of Northern Ireland’s schools, including 63 nursery schools, 380 primary schools and 69 post primary schools. Controlled schools are open to all faiths and none which brings a rich diversity and inclusive ethos.

    Controlled schools have a positive shared ethos which contributes significantly to the success of the sector, offering quality education, excellent pastoral care and a commitment to the wellbeing of every child.

    This CSSC primary teacher professional learning seminar is aimed at energising leaders in primary schools. We plan to have principals sharing their experiences of leadership as well as contributions from agencies that will look at maintaining positive mental health.
