Rathcoole Primary School inspire a new generation

Staff at Rathcoole Primary School and Nursery Unit welcomed their Primary 7 and Primary 1 pupils, in the same week, with every child back in the school on 1 September.

Rathcoole PS new term 2020

The school is proud of how each child walked into class ready for the day ahead.  The socially distanced parent meetings with the new Nursery and Primary 1 parents in August helped facilitated this. Over lockdown, new pupils and families were kept updated of any new developments.

Much of what has changed for the school has been positive. The Year 7 leavers continue to post photographs of their first day in Year 8.

Action Mental Health led some sessions with KS1 and KS2 pupils since return to school, and staff have training scheduled for the weeks ahead.

Emma Quinn, Principal, commented,

“As a Nurturing School, I am so proud of the work that we do at the school to support the wellbeing of children. The ethos of "Nurture. Inspire. Flourish" is embedded in every aspect of our school life.

“Getting back into the classroom is an opportunity to have a new beginning and we embrace any changes that will benefit the teaching, learning and more importantly, the lives of our children and local community.

“Good luck to everyone in the coming weeks and months ahead.  Never has there been such a time in education when there has been collaboration at this level. It has been inspiring to watch and also to be part of this new journey in education.  Let's grab it with both hands, we never know what we all might achieve, together."
