Northern Ireland Youth Assembly call out for members

This first ever Northern Ireland Youth Assembly is looking for members! This is an exciting opportunity for 90 young people aged 13 to 17 years old who live in Northern Ireland to make a difference.

Members of the Youth Assembly will have a unique opportunity to share their views which could ultimately influence decisions taken by the Northern Ireland Assembly.

The Youth Assembly members will discuss important issues and put forward their perspectives on issues which impact upon them and society. Members will meet twice a year in Parliament Buildings in meetings chaired by the Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly.

To ensure that young people from all over Northern Ireland are represented, the Youth Assembly will have 54 members whom will be drawn from the Northern Ireland Assembly constituencies. The Youth Assembly represents the diversity of the youth population in Northern Ireland and to ensure this balance a further 36 members will be selected at random.

Youth Assembly members will be appointed for a term of two years. It is anticipated that the first meeting will be held in June 2021.
