Lisneal College extends shared education learning
Lisneal College has worked closely over the past three years with their Shared Education Partner schools, St Cecilia’s College and St Mary’s College, to explore how to further develop thinking skills and personal capabilities across Key Stage 3.
An outcome of this partnership Lisneal College has developed a culture of independent learning, problem solving and self-evaluation. This has led to the launch of their Retrieval Practice pilot with year 8 pupils.
Michael Allen, Principal, Lisneal College said,
“It is essential that our young people become more independent and can use a range of tools and strategies across a variety of subjects to maximise their learning.
“Our new Retrieval Practice book, designed by our own teachers, is just part of our strategy to improve learning and teaching.
“We see the development of thinking skills and personal capabilities, including the promotion of metacognition, as being central to our pupils’ success.
“It has been fantastic to see our staff and pupils commit so much time and energy to this very important work.”
The school has worked hard on this pilot and we wish them well.
