Investment for Nurture Groups as part of the Fair Start Action Plan
An investment of over £3 million will be made this year to establish 16 new Nurture Groups in primary schools across Northern Ireland as part of the Fair Start Action Plan. CSSC supports the Fair Start Action Plan which aims to tackle persistent educational underachievement.
Nurture groups are a short-term, focused intervention for children with particular social, emotional and behavioural difficulties which are creating a barrier to learning within a mainstream class. This development will have a positive impact on these schools and directly benefit their pupils.
Six controlled schools will benefit from this investment. A further existing 46 funded Nurture Groups will continue to be funded by the Department of Education.
