Mark undertook a tour of the school and was updated on progress being made on the delivery of plans for the Limavady Shared Education Campus. The project represents an investment of over £11 million by the Department of Education across Limavady High School and St. Mary’s High School sites with hopes for completion in 2023. Mark was also able to see the significant progress being made on site and the work of colleagues in the Education Authority.

Mark Baker, Chief Executive, CSSC commented,

CSSC welcomes the opportunity to celebrate and promote the many shared education projects controlled schools are involved in.

“Shared education provides the opportunity for pupils from different backgrounds to come together, forge new friendships, experiences and a broader range of learning opportunities.

“This is an important landmark for Limavady High School and St. Mary’s High School, with only a single footpath separating the schools, the new shared education facility will support pupils in their education and in their community in the Roe Valley area.”

Darren Mornin, Principal, Limavady High School principal added,

“It was fantastic to be able to welcome Mark to the school in his new role as Chief Executive of the Controlled Schools’ Support Council to witness first hand the progress made to date on the £11 million pound investment.

“The partnership that exists between Limavady High School and St Mary’s Limavady has been in place for many years and will be the first Shared Campus delivered in Northern Ireland.”

The shared campus will offer facilities from a new high-tech building for science, technology, engineering and mathematics students to a new study and common rooms for careers, drama, media and sixth form pupils.
