Bewirb dich jetzt, um einen Deutschlehrer an deiner Schule zu begrüßen (Apply now to host a German teacher)

Pupils and staff at both Crumlin Integrated Primary School and McClintock Primary School had the opportunity to learn a new language and experience a new culture with visits from teachers from Germany this year.

Frau Stephanie Gemming from Wendelinusschule Petersberg visited Crumlin Integrated Primary for two weeks in April, while McClinock Primary hosted Frau Jennifer Queins from Trier for two weeks in May.

The visits were arranged through the ‘Host a teacher from Germany’ programme run by UK-German Connection.

As well as observing lessons, Frau Quiens and Frau Gemming taught pupils German and told them about education and traditions in Germany.

CSSC School Support Officer Jill Brown helped the schools through the application process.

This is a really exciting programme for schools to take part in.

Primary, post-primary and special schools are all eligible to apply and German does not need to be on the school’s curriculum as visiting teachers have good English language skills.

I am glad that the teachers and pupils at both schools thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Applications for schools to host a teacher from Germany for 2018-2019 are now open. Please contact Jill Brown for more information.
