50 miles in March for MND!

Shaftesbury Nursery School recently walked and ran 50 miles (or maybe even more!) to raise funds to support the work of Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) charity in memory of School Governor, Mr Colm Davis who sadly passed away in January.

Shaftesbury NS 50 miles in March

Colm was a brilliant and kind man and also a wonderful advocate for the MND association. He made an incredible contribution to Shaftesbury Nursery School during his tenure as School Governor

The MND Association, provides care and support for people with MND and their carers, whilst funding vital research into causes, treatments and a cure for MND and running campaigns and raising awareness of MND.

The school felt that the challenge was an appropriate way to remember Colm and continue to raise awareness of MND. The team walked their last mile together on Monday 29 March.

Pupils also had a fun charity 'Fairytale Day' with dressing up, dancing and a banquet.

Mrs Stephanie Gillespie, Principal, Shaftesbury Nursery School commented,

“Whatever the total, we are grateful for the opportunity to gather funds for such a worthy cause and in memory of our friend and wonderful Governor, Colm Davis.”
