Innovative practice and responsive interventions in the early years event
The Controlled Schools' Support Council (CSSC) welcomed Principals and the teaching staff of controlled nursery schools and units to professional learning seminar on 27 November 2019 at Stranmillis College Unversity, Belfast.
Dr Glenda Walsh, Head of Early Years Education at Stranmillis University College led an interactive workshop on playful teaching and learning with a focus on outdoor education.
Gillian Beck, a lecturer in special educational needs and inclusion education at Stranmillis University College shared the most effective strategies to support children with ASD and sensory processing difficulties.
A panel discussion progressed consideration of a number of issues specific to early years education. Joining the panel was Dr Glenda Walsh, Head of Early Years Education at Stranmillis University College, Lois Totton, lecturer at Stranmillis University College, specialising in special education, and Marie O’Donoghue, Chair of the McCord Trust, an organisation which encourages and promotes creative approaches to learning.
