Anie’s submission ‘Daily Walk’ has also been awarded one of only two President’s prizes for the 'most inspiring' artwork for her Key Stage five submission and both Anie and Morgan’s pieces have been selected to go on display in the Royal Academy exhibition in London. All three girls’ work is also on display in the online exhibition.

Anie has also won £100 of art materials and the choice of either £500 of art materials for Bangor Academy or a workshop with a Royal Academician.

Morgan's work ‘Together’ will join Anie’s work on display in London between 16 July and 8 August. Whilst Emma's work, ‘Walks in Holland’ will be on display in the online exhibition.

Bangor Academy Principal, Bangor Academy, Matthew Pitts commented,

“It is an amazing achievement to have three of our Year 14 artists make it into the prestigious Royal Academy of Arts Young Artists’ Summer Show. To have stood out to the judges among over 33,000 submissions from all over the UK is an impressive achievement. I am so proud of all three girls.

“The Art teachers, Mrs Mackey and Mrs Traynor, were delighted to welcome the girls back to school to take a final look at all three pieces together before the exhibition begins. Mrs Mackey is retiring at the end of this year and the news seemed like a fitting farewell from her final A Level class.”

Mrs Traynor, Art Teacher, who entered the work to the Royal Academy said,

“In a year where we feel so many young people missed out and a lot of A Level artwork was made on kitchen tables and taught through Google Meet, this recognition for our departing Year 14 students was such a boost. I am so pleased for all three girls.

“This is such a prestigious organisation, and it is great that, whilst the girls may not have had all the opportunities they would on a normal A Level art course, they are leaving with a fantastic addition to their CVs and portfolios. This is a great highlight for the class of 2021.”
