CSSC staff raise £400 for Cancer Focus NI

The Controlled Schools’ Support Council (CSSC) staff put the kettle on for the first fundraising event in aid of this year’s charity partner Cancer Focus NI in May.

A ‘guess the number of sweets in the jar’ competition was also held bringing the total raised so far to £400.

At the coffee morning colleagues from Stranmillis University College and guests gave generously and indulged in the huge variety of treats made by CSSC staff. Even Mary Berry would have been proud of the range of delicious options from red velvet cupcakes and tray bakes to handmade chocolate truffles.

CSSC Chief Executive Barry Mulholland said

We were delighted that so many people came to the coffee morning and enjoyed the cake and the company.

We are very grateful to the staff of Stranmillis University College and all of our guests who were extremely generous with their donations to this fantastic cause.

Cancer is an illness which affects us all in one way or another and staff have chosen Cancer Focus NI as our first charity partner due to the recent retirement of our colleague Pearse McCormick on the grounds of ill health.

The staff and I look are looking forward to holding more events to help raise money for this fantastic local charity.

CSSC staff will take part in the Cancer Focus NI moonlight walk in November.
