During his visit to Killicomaine JHS, Barry Mulholland had the opportunity to discover more about post primary education in Craigavon.  Afterwards he said

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Killicomaine Junior High School. I was keen to learn more about the education plan model operating in the local area and all of the positive work going on within controlled schools throughout Portadown, Lurgan and Tandragee.

The post primary education model operated here is unique to the controlled education sector in Northern Ireland and another example of the diversity of controlled schools.

During the discussion, Hugh McCarthy also highlighted a range of more general challenges facing education in the wider Craigavon area, particularly to do with the quality of accommodation, and affirmed the need for CSSC as an advocacy body for controlled schools.

Principal of Killicomaine Junior High, Hugh McCarthy said

I am delighted to be part of an historic phase in the history of controlled schools and I shall certainly be advocating on behalf of our sector as we seek to develop a province approach.
